10 people rescued from sinking boat in North Sound

Staff from the Department of Environment rescued 10 people, including two infants, from a sinking yacht in the North Sound Sunday.

According to police, shortly after 5pm Sunday, 15 July, officers received a report that a 52-foot motor yacht was taking on water off Bobby Cay in the
North Sound.

As the Joint Marine Unit began making its way to the location, a Department of Environment vessel, which was nearby, responded and safely removed all of the people from the vessel.

The owner has made arrangements to have the vessel removed by a salvage crew, police said.
