Roach posts solid half century as Cubs educate schoolboys

The Esso Cubs are now frontrunners at the stumps.

Esso played the senior role and taught the Schools a cricketing lesson on Sunday at JP Oval, taking the Cubs to the top spot in Division two. Esso Cubs blasted their way to an easy victory, losing only one wicket after limiting the Schools team to 139 runs. Ricardo Roach 63n.o, Ramon Sealy 34 and Darren Cato 25n.o were the destroyers.

Cayman Brac had an up and down weekend, easily defeating Chillies on Saturday but losing to Aims Consultants on Sunday. Denrick Gayle had the season’s best bowling with six wickets for 26 runs as Chillies could only get to 138 runs. James Reid 59n.o, Desrick Dawson 26n.o and Steve Coates 25 plied up the runs for the Cayman Brac victory by nine wickets.

The story changed on Sunday as Aims Consultants’ 154, with Anil Jugbir’s 49 runs, turning the tables on Cayman Brac, who only got to 110. Aims Consultants won by 44 runs.

In the women’s division, the Panthers continued its unbeaten run, defeating Greenies by eight wickets. Having limited Greenies to 99 for 5 wickets, Panthers went on the attack with Desrene Cox 45n.o, Molly Ann Moore 21n.o and Verryll Seymour 13 taking them to victory.

Numerous games are on this weekend. On Saturday, 21 July, division two sees a triple-header as Cayman Brac battle Schools in the Brac at 11am, UCCI/WB face Aims Consultants at JPO at 12noon and Paramount tackle Oneness at SRO at 12noon. The ladies see Dr. Jackman Islanders take on Greenies on Sunday, 22 July, at JACPS at 2pm. Division T/20 action continues on Sunday as Police face Prison at SRO at 2.30pm.
