Casino night set for Cayman

Get your tuxedos and cocktail dresses out, it’s time for an evening of glamour and gambling. The United World Colleges Cayman Islands is hosting its second annual Blue Jack Casino night on Saturday, 28 July.

The evening kicks off at 7pm at the Arts and Recreation Centre in Camana Bay, and is open to anyone over 18 years of age who wishes to join in. You’ll be greeted at the door with a complimentary glass of Prosecco, donated by Jacques Scott, and there will be hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Ragazzi.

From 7pm until the bewitching hour would-be high rollers can try their luck at Texas Hold’em Poker, Blackjack, Bingo and Dominoes. There will be plenty of tables for everyone to play and a cash bar to keep players well hydrated. A DJ will provide some musical accompaniment to the evening and door prizes will include a Cayman Airways flight and an iPhone.

Each person will receive 50 tokens on arrival which they may play with, and which they may also pay with should they be the lucky winner or an item in the silent auction. Up for a grabs are all sorts of donated prizes from local businesses: dive packages, travel vouchers, fitness memberships, jewellery, artwork, staycations and goodie baskets to name a few. There will also be a Golden Nugget auction where one may purchase a nugget for $10 and receive a corresponding prize worth $10 to $15. Prizes will include gas vouchers, gift certificates and more.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards UWC Cayman Islands. UWC is a global education movement bringing together students from around the world. UWC Cayman Islands raises funds to provide full scholarships for Cayman Islands students. Since 1984, more than 60 Caymanians have attended a UWC.

Purchase tickets in advance as there will only be limited number available at the door. Tickets are $50 each and are available from Funky Tangs or call 916-7589.
