The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is based on consistently high reviews of hotels by guests who have stayed at the properties in question, so receiving the accolade carries a sense of authenticity.
The Alexander Hotel, Cayman Brac has received the award, explained Karen Gascoigne, manager of the hotel.
“We have been promoting Cayman Brac to local residents as a wonderful Staycation destination, and have prepared a special place for them to enjoy their stay at The Alexander Hotel. Many residents from Grand Cayman and Little Cayman are discovering how easy it is to take a weekend away to visit Cayman Brac.
“Over the past six months, we have also had tourists on their honeymoon from Japan and Australia, and vacationers from Europe and the Czech Republic,” she said.
Only around 10 per cent of accommodations listed on the TripAdvisor site receive the award, she added.
The hotel was built in 2009 with an emphasis on what Ms. Gascogine called a ‘boutique ambience.’
She said that people enjoyed the tranquillity of the Brac including its nature walks, cave exploration and local arts and crafts.
“For the more adventurous guest, there is exploring some of the best reefs in the world, and scenic vigorous hikes along the Bluff. The island has beaches which are a mix of white sand and ironshore, with terrific snorkeling and scuba diving sites,” she added, noting that charter fishing trips and day trips to Little Cayman were also popular with visitors.
Ms. Gascoigne said that ‘to celebrate the momentous occasion’ of the award, the Summer Madness promotion, with deeply discounted room rates, would be extended until Sunday, 30 September.
