Several men charged with robberies that included Cayman National Bank and WestStar TV appeared in Grand Court on 3 August to be arraigned on the charges.
Rennie Cole, Andre Burton, George Mignott and David Tomasa are all charged with offences relating to the robbery of Cayman National Bank in Buckingham Square, which occurred on Thursday, 28 June, 2012. Cole is not listed as a defendant in the WestStar TV robbery.
During Friday’s proceedings all four of the men plead not guilty to one count of Robbery in which $502,436.17, which included both US and CI currencies, was stolen while putting persons in the fear of being subject to force.
The men also plead not guilty to one count of possession of an unlicensed firearm from the incident in which they were alleged to have used an imitation firearm with the intent of committing a robbery.
Only one of the men, Andre Burton, was charged with driving the getaway vehicle to impede apprehension. Burton also plead not guilty to that charge.
The trial for the Cayman National Robbery suspects has been set for March 2013. All four men are remanded in custody.
In relation to the WestStar robbery, which took place on 24 May, Burton, Mignott and Tomasa plead not guilty to one count of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery. The men also plead not guilty to one count of robbery relating to the WestStar heist in which $8,000 was stolen.
The trial for the robbery of Weststar is set to begin on 13 May, 2013.
