Reading the article ‘Wild stingrays found in dolphin attraction’ brought on anger and tears.
I am in such disbelief that anyone living in the Cayman Islands would think that capturing the stingrays is a good idea. How exactly did they capture them? Was it done humanely? Did they get injured? Is this ‘hunting’ of the stingrays now going to cause aggressiveness and fear among the rest of the wild stingrays? Have these people not learned their lesson with the now endangered turtles? Stingray City and Sandbar are an integral part of the Cayman Islands tourism. As a resident, Stingray Sandbar is my happy place. I go there a minimum every other week to interact with the stingrays; not to mention how beautiful and amazing the Sandbar environment is. Standing in a few feet of water in the middle of the ocean is not a common thing. I firmly believe anyone else connected with the hunting and capturing of these stingrays should be heavily fined with possible jail time. All the captive stingrays should be released back into the wild. Who dare mess with my happy place!

Noella, I agree with you completely. Unfortunately there are those at Dolphin Discovery that see the stingrays differently.
don’t tell me that the stingrays are still at the dolphinarium? if so why? show us that we have the determination to prosecute the people that have stolen the stingrays. this is barbaric and inhumane. the authority in charge of this should go there today and confiscate the stingray and return them to the original habitat. shame, shame and shame on you dolphinarium your action doesn’t surprise us at all, it shows what kind of people you are.another case of animal abuse and no action from the authority when it comes to this type of animal neglect. another sad day in the life of our natural environment
