Calling fashion devotees: there’s a unique dinner and fashion show event coming to Grand Old House on Wednesday, 14 November.
Brought to you by the folks who launched the unique and glitzy Cayman Fashion Solstice last year, Fashion at Heart is a one-night only event, that will tide the glamour-hungry crowds over until the renamed Cayman Fashion Week returns in April next year.
Fashion at Heart is modelled on the US event Heart Truth Red Dress, which originated during New York Fashion Week to raise awareness of heart disease.
“The concept is to have designers create a dress for the runway which is then modelled by a celebrity, most often one that has been affected by heart disease,” says Cindy Jones, founder of the Cayman Islands Fashion Week. “In adopting this concept our aim is to make it unique by auctioning each dress with proceeds to benefit the Cayman Heart Fund. We have moved to adopt this cause because heart disease also has a great impact on our community.”
The event kicks off at 6pm with welcome cocktails. A buffet dinner will be served and this will be followed by the fashion show, prior to dessert.
For the Cayman version of this event, a number of local designers, including but not limited to Ki-dan Brooks, Luigi Moxam, Mara McBean and Melissa Dilbert, are providing dresses which will be modelled by some local “celebrities” such as Sophia Solomon Harris, Dr. Sook Yin and Cristin Alexander, plus some surprise appearances.
The dresses will then be auctioned off and with the proceeds will go to the Cayman Heart Fund. It’s a red-themed evening, so get your little red dresses out and help support a worthy cause.
