The Cayman Islands Football Association honoured the country’s top football performers of the 2011-12 season before a full house at the Westin Hotel last month.
Local sports TV presenter Jason Harper hosted the event featuring 81 award presentations in 12 categories.
Education Minister Rolston Anglin and West Bay MLA Cline Glidden together with members of the Cayman Islands Football Association Executive Committee who presented the trophies.
Awards were presented in various categories for each of the leagues starting with the Under-13 Boys’ Silver league and culminating in the Men’s Premier League.
Bruce Blake the newly elected 1st Vice President of CIFA congratulated all award winners and wished all players, coaches and administrators the best of luck for the new season.
Marcos Tinoco, CIFA office manager and Grassroots Coordinator, expressed his delight at the number of youth team players at the awards ceremony and said that the development of youth football is a very important objective for the association.
Rene Carter was the Player of the Year and Scholars International were the Premier League champs and provided the Coach of the Year in Colin ‘Dougie’ Rowe and FA Cup Final’s Most Valuable Player in Oneil Taylor.
