Television station Cayman 27 has kicked off another season of its regularly-scheduled talk shows, an engaging lineup featuring expert analysis and viewing audience feedback on topics ranging from community issues to local sports and politics.
It all began Monday, 11 February, when Dr. Tasha Ebanks-Garcia led an in-depth discussion on sociological issues on “Let’s Talk to the Experts”. This season, Ms Ebanks-Garcia will be joined by experts to discuss everything from Cayman’s national strategic education plan to understanding the territory’s Bill of Rights.
On Tuesdays, “The Panel” will feature a heavy dose of political coverage and commentary with the upcoming general election set for May. Cayman 27 political reporter Tammi Sulliman will moderate debates and discussions between newsmakers, politicians and candidates as the Cayman Islands prepares to elect a new legislature and ruling government.
The weekly talk show schedule is rounded out with “Let’s Talk Sports”, airing on Thursdays. Sports reporter and host Kevin Morales will deliver a fresh approach on the good, the bad and the ugly of the sporting world, while ensuring to take on the critical issues and examine the performances of athletes, coaches, administrators and even spectators.
All three shows begin on their respective nights at 7pm, with “Let’s Talk to the Experts” and “Let’s Talk Sports” airing until 8pm. “The Panel” will air from 7 to 8.30pm.
Each of the talk shows feature a format encouraging viewer feedback and participation. Viewers can call, text, or e-mail in questions or comments during the discussions.
“We as journalists provide a service to the community, which we take very seriously, that is why we encourage our viewers to participate,” said Ben Meade, news director of Cayman 27. “We give them access to experts and professionals who they may not encounter on a regular basis.”
