Fibre cut affects Cayman phone service

Update, 4:35pm: According to LIME, as of 4pm today, telephone problems were resolved. “All interconnectivity has been restored,” said LIME marketing manager Julie Hutton.

Telephone service in the Cayman Islands is being affected by a problem in Jamaica. The end result is that LIME customers can’t call Digicel customers, and vice versa.

LIME marketing manager Julie Hutton said, “There has been a fibre cut in Jamaica. The effect is that people can’t call cross networks.”

She said LIME technicians are working on the problem.

“Our technicians are working on resolving the issue and as soon as I get an update I will let you know with regards to resolution,” she said.
