The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation is hosting a “warm-up” jumping show and the second leg of the 2013 National Jumping Series on Saturday and Sunday, 20 and 21 April, at the Equestrian Centre on Linford Pierson Highway.
The warm-up show on Saturday is an opportunity for beginner and intermediate jumpers to gain jumping experience and confidence in a less pressure-filled environment. Cross rail jumping classes will be available in the lower arena and both cross rail and upright vertical jump courses, maximum height 0.60 metres, will be available.
In the larger top arena, warm up classes will be offered at .60m, .70m and .85m. Classes will commence at 3pm and rider and horse combinations in the lower arena may complete each course twice and rider and horse combinations in the top arena may complete a maximum of three courses.
The 2013 CIEF National Jumping Series is a set of four jumping events for which each rider earns points based upon their placing. Points are tallied for the best three results obtained at any of the four National Jumping Series Shows and a champion, reserve champion and national champion will be announced at the end of the year.
The second leg of the National Jumping Series will be at 3pm on Sunday, 21 April, and classes are being offered at 0.60m, 0.70m, 0.85m, 0.9-1.0m and 1-1.10m.
At the moment, high point winners from the first leg of the jump series include Phoebe Serpell (champion) and Madeleine Aquârt (reserve champion) for the 0.60m junior rider class; Juliette Forrester and Jessica McTaggart for 0.60m adult riders; Petra Pinkerton and Hannah Fowler for 0.70m junior riders; and Jessica McTaggart and Michelle Boucher for 0.70m adult riders.
Petra Pinkerton and Amara Thompson were tops in the 0.85m junior rider class, while Michelle Boucher won the 0.85m adult rider segment and Thea Millward claimed the 0.90-1.0m junior rider category.
