Ja and UK set to stick it out

Cayman’s Field Hockey Club are host to visiting teams from Jamaica and the United Kingdom at their third annual international tournament.

It is over the weekend of 18 and 19 May, which is a public holiday weekend. Cayman Hockey’s men’s, women’s and mixed teams will play a series of matches against their international visitors at Camana Bay.

On Sunday, they will compete for the Alex Horner trophy, in memory of club member Alex Horner. There will also be an exhibition match between the Hockey Club’s junior members, who have been coached this year by Bryony Platt.

The trip is as much about socialising as about sport and the club’s visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities in Grand Cayman.

While some will be only be competing in the matches at the weekend, many are arriving from 13 May and will be sampling a wide range of Cayman’s tourist hot spots.

The club is grateful to the Ministry of Sport and the Immigration Department for waiving visa restrictions on the Jamaican visitors for the trip.

All matches are being played at Cayman International School’s field at Camana Bay.
