There’s a ton of events on throughout the long weekend, from Jet Ski races and boat parties to Canada Day celebrations – and for the second year this year, there’s the Scavenger Hunt, too.
It takes place on Monday, 1 July, and will entail driving around Grand Cayman, completing tasks and answering general knowledge questions, in teams of four.
Teams will be going head to head – or car to car – for a massive grand prize of $5,000 cash. It’s a pretty good incentive to take part and teams can register right up until 9am on the day of the race. There’s a $100 registration fee per team and proceeds will be going to Cayman HospiceCare.
Teams will check in by 9am on Monday morning at Dolphin Discovery in West Bay. At that point, they will receive their race packs, containing instructions. The idea is that the teams will visit all the districts in Grand Cayman throughout the day, finding check points at certain well-known landmarks. There will be tasks to complete at the check points, which could be anything from fishing an object out of a bucket to throwing a dart. It’s designed to be accessible to all abilities, so children should have no problem completing the tasks.
There are also general knowledge questions to be answered at the different check points. And yes, your can check Google for the answer if you’re not sure, but most of the time answers will be contained somewhere in your race pack, or will be in evidence at the landmark.
The scavenger hunt is based on points, rather than speed, however, so first team to complete the course and return to Dolphin Discovery won’t necessarily win.
Teams will have from 10am to 4pm to complete the tasks, answer the questions and hand them over at the finish line.
There will be DJs and music at Dolphin Discovery and an award ceremony at 6pm when the winners of the grand cash prize will be announced.
It’s not too late to register, so sign up online at www.kiss.ky or call 623-3312 for more information.
