Fight in bar parking lot leaves man injured

Police are investigating reports of a fight in the parking lot of a downtown bar after having received a 911 call early Saturday morning about a man lying in the road bleeding from the head.

Authorities were contacted at 12.01am about a man found to be injured laying the street near the Cotton Club on Shedden Road in George Town, according to a news release issued by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service. The man was transported to the hospital where he was admitted due to lacerations to the front and side of his head.

Police said enquires revealed that the victim was involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the Cotton Club and had walked into the road where he was struck by a truck.

The victim later discharged himself from the hospital.

The matter remains under investigation.
