Motorcycle-bicycle crash kills one

 

Update, 11:40am: The man who
died following a road crash in West Bay on Sunday, 7 July, can be named as Steve
Andrew Powery, aged 57 years. The rider
of the motorcycle, a 24-year-old man, remains in the Cayman Islands Hospital in
a critical but stable condition. A police
enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing. Anyone who was
in the area around 12.40am on Sunday and witnessed the crash, or has any
information which could assist the investigation, is asked to contact the RCIPS
Traffic Management Unit on 946-6254.

 

One man died and another was hospitalised with serious head injuries following a motorcycle-bicycle collision in West Bay.  

The crash happened around midnight Saturday on Hell Road in the vicinity of the Inferno nightclub.  

The bicycle rider, who was in his late 50s, was killed in the crash. The motorcycle operator, a younger man, was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.  

There was no immediate word from police on how the crash occurred.  

Accident investigators had closed off a section of Hell Road, from the Hell gas station to Miss Daisy Lane, while they reviewed the scene early Sunday.  

The crash was the fourth fatal accident in the Cayman Islands since the start 
of the year.
