Auditions, auditions!

Calling all stars!

Saturday, Sept. 7, is audition day at the Cayman National Cultural Foundation. In the morning, young performers are invited to audition for the Young at Arts program, and in the afternoon, singers of all ages may audition to join the Cayman Islands Folk Singers.

Young at Arts

Talented 12- to 17-year-olds are encouraged to audition for the after-school arts program, which resumed at the beginning of the school year. The program, which gives singers, dancers, actors and storytellers valuable experience in the performing arts, is a demanding one.

Participants must be able to commit to attending three days per week. It is essential that students book an audition time between 10 a.m. and noon by calling 949-5477.

Those wishing to audition should memorize a speech or poem, as well as a dance, song or piece of music to play.

Cayman Islands Folk Singers

Male and female voices are needed for the Cayman Islands Folk Singers. If you love traditional folk music, want to share the islands’ musical heritage and can commit to 90 minutes each week, then sign up for auditions from 1 to 3 p.m.

Singers should be prepared with a simple song of any genre to be sung a capella.

For more information or to book an audition, call 949-5477.

The Young at Arts after-school program is an opportunity for teens to gain experience in the performing arts.
