Catholic’s Smith in divine form

The CUC Primary Football League resumed over the weekend following the mid-term break with a number of games played at various venues across the Island. 

In the feature game in Group A, St. Ignatius Prep played at Camana Bay’s Dart Field to tackle the lively youngsters from Cayman International School. 

In the Under-9 encounter they had to settle for a 1-1 draw. St. Ignatius’ Chad Owens opened the scoring in the sixth minute only to see Cayman International School equalise three minutes later from a sublime strike from energetic skipper Francisco Magno. 

In the later game, St. Ignatius’ Corey Smith scored a hat-trick in the 15th, 33rd and 34th minutes to secure a 6-0 win over the U-11s from Cayman International School.  

Skipper Jonah Sigsworth opened the scoring in the 10th minute for St. Ignatius with Nathan Trickett and Kiefer Ebanks adding a goal each in the 27th and 57th minutes respectively. 

Other results from Group A: Sir John A. Cumber 6 v George Town 0 (U-9) and Sir John A. Cumber Primary 1 v George Town 1 (Under 11). 

Group B results: Red Bay 3 v Bodden Town 4 (U-9); Red Bay 1 v Bodden Town 3 (U-11); North East Schools 7 v Triple C 1 (U-9) and North East Schools 4 v Triple C 0 (U-11). 

In games played on Saturday, Nov. 2, ] Prospect Primary 0 v Cayman Prep 6 (U-9) and Prospect 1 v Cayman Prep 5 (U-11). 

The 2013/14 CUC Primary Football League regular season continues this weekend with Truth For Youth v Savannah Primary (TE McField Annex) in Group A; and in Group B, it’s Red Bay Primary vs. South Sound Schools (Annex Field); Bodden Town Primary v North East Schools (Bodden Town); and Prospect Primary v Triple C (Prospect Primary). 

The Group A match between George Town and Cayman International School has been postponed.
