Camana Bay’s restaurants are joining forces to offer a new farm-to-fork progressive dinner, the “Flavour Tour.”
Every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., diners can enjoy a selection of four small-course plates from Abacus, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, Mizu and Ortanique, complemented by feature cocktails or wine pairings. Each dish features fresh, locally grown seasonal produce, which is then prepared, cooked and presented in each restaurant’s signature style. Diners can cap off the experience with a taste of one of the 80 vintages available at the West Indies Wine Company.
The “Flavour Tour” coincides with the peak of Cayman’s harvest season and the newly expanded Farmers Market at Camana Bay. Held every Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m., the market is now held in Cassia Court and features a variety of locally grown produce. Local artisans and vendors will also sell speciality foods and handmade products along The Paseo.
Shoppers will be able to stock up on everything from seasonal fruits and vegetables to teas, jellies, seasonings and more. Gift items including jewelry, skin-care products, crafts and original art will also be available for purchase.
From 3 p.m. there will be local entertainment, ranging from live music to artists creating their craft. Additionally, Cayman’s heritage will be celebrated with demonstrations of thatch weaving, rope making, conch shell blowing, soldier crab racing and traditional games.
“It has been wonderful to watch the evolution of our weekly market,” said Ken Hydes, vice president of special projects for Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd. “It began in summer 2010 with a handful of local farmers and quickly flourished into a bustling community event with a diverse group of vendors and loyal customers.”
The “Flavour Tour” is $65 per person, including gratuities. Tickets are available from the West Indies Wine Company. For more information, visit camanabay.com.
