Rowe can’t see Reds failing

Liverpool fans in the Cayman Islands like Colin “Dougie” Rowe are convinced Liverpool can win the Premier League this season and they will edge closer after playing second placed Chelsea this Sunday.

The match is at Anfield and if Liverpool win, only third placed Manchester City will have a mathematical chance of catching them.

Reds fans like Rowe, who is the technical director of West Bay side Scholars International, are in no doubt that his team will win the Premiership for the first time in 24 years.

It will be their first silverware since winning the Champions League in dramatic fashion in 2005.

“Even if we lose to Chelsea, our goal difference will still be good enough and only City can catch us,” Rowe said. “A draw against Chelsea and we win the next two would be good enough too.”

He added that Chelsea are a good team with an excellent manager in Jose Mourinho who have a battling spirit but Liverpool’s celebrated strike force of Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling are in irresistible form.

“I think we have the best strike force against the best defense,” Rowe said. “It should be a massive game.”

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers rates 19-year-old Sterling – who is Jamaica born but prefers to play for England – as the best teenager in Europe at the moment. Rowe agrees.

“Sterling has a lot of pace and he is able to play in three different positions,” he said. “Liverpool’s strength is that we don’t just rely on Sterling, Sturridge or Suarez. We attack together and defend together and if we overcome Chelsea I would say it’s all over.”
