Suspect charged in Batabano shooting

Defendant charged with attempted murder, refused bail


A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting during the Batabano festivities on Saturday, May 3. 

Todd Omar Bowen appeared in Summary Court on Monday, charged with attempted murder and two other alleged offenses. 

Bowen is accused of unlawful use of a firearm for allegedly discharging a firearm at a named person at Dr. Roy’s Drive in downtown George Town.  

He is further charged with attempting to unlawfully cause the death of the same named person on May 3 at 6:50 p.m., the act being of such a nature as to be likely to endanger human life. The third charge is possession of a 9mm handgun. 

Attorney Prathna Bodden applied for bail, but Magistrate Grace Donalds refused the application. 

The magistrate transmitted the charges to Grand Court, where they are scheduled for mention on May 16.
