Glow 5k run is very bright idea

Of all the road runs being organized, one in particular is guaranteed to leave participants glowing.

The National Trust, along with CUC, hosts the first 5K Glow Run in Cayman on June 21. The race route will be a loop throughout George Town and officially starts at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive for registration at 6 p.m. and take advantage of free ultra-violet neon face painting.

With the theme “Light up the Night for a Brighter Future,” the run starts and ends at Margaritaville with an after-party where food, drinks and glow items will be on sale while participants enjoy music by Cayman’s top DJs. To enjoy the full experience, runners are encouraged to light up the night from head to toe with glow items, as well as wacky attire.

Prizes from sponsors will be given to the top three finishers for the male, female and children’s category, as well as for the best glow costumes.

All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to run or walk. Flowers Bottled Water and Gatorade are the official beverage sponsors.

To encourage sign-ups, 50 CUC water bottles will be dispersed in anonymous runners’ packs and a lucky winner will find a gift certificate thanks to Logic Cayman for a new Apple TV.

Participants have the option to have a splash of biodegradable and non-toxic UV reactive paint and powder along the route and expect to go into extreme glow as they approach KPMG “Glo Hard or Go Home” stations.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the National Trust and Rotaract Blue Cayman Islands.
