October is Older Persons Month and the Department of Children and Family Services is hosting events to celebrate the elderly in the community.
The focus of this year’s Older Persons Month is “Helping Older Persons Excel: Hope.”
According to Debbie Webb-Sibblies, deputy director for strategic and programming services of the Department of Children and Family Services, this month’s theme was chosen for the community to look at how the interests of older residents can be recognized and how opportunities can be made available to continue to provide them support services.
Ms. Webb-Sibblies is also the 2014 committee chairperson for older persons.
