Traders sport best start

Youth hockey is going into its fourth week of action.

The 2014 Fall Youth Roller Hockey League takes place at Kings Sports Centre. The 13 and Under category features the Hudson Hawks against the Ernst and Young Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday before the Ecay Traders battle Islanders at 9 a.m. on Oct. 4. The 10 and Under segment plays on Friday as the Deloitte Devils face the Burger King Whoppers at 2 p.m. before the Stars tangle with the KPMG Canucks at 6:30 p.m. The 8 and Under group competes on Oct. 4 as the Blackhawks face the PwC Predators at noon with the Blackhawks in action again versus the Canadiens at 1 p.m.

Ecay top the 13U division with an unbeaten 3-0 mark. Kai Allard is on track for a scoring title and a Most Valuable Player award with a league-best nine goals and five assists. Hudson, 1-1-1, sit second as Ethan Finlason has six goals (third in the league) and four assists (second). The 0-2-1 Islanders and the 0-1-2 Eagles round out the standings.

Another undefeated club tops the 10U division, in the form of the 3-0 Canucks. Alex Priestley is dazzling the scoring charts with 12 goals (second-most in his group) and a division-best seven assists. Deloitte, 2-1, sit second behind phenomenal scorer Molly Kehoe, who has a competition-best 16 goals. 1-2 Burger King and 0-3 Stars round off the rankings with Connor Finch of the Whoppers netting nine goals and three assists and Jake Booker of the Stars having seven goals and four assists.

The 2-1 Predators lead the 8U division as Gavin Sunley has already scored an amazing 22 goals this season. The 1-1 Blackhawks and 1-2 Canadiens are trailing behind PwC but sport talented scorers in Ethan Ellis (11 goals) and Lachlin Lambert (15 goals), respectively.

Two adult hockey competitions are also taking place at Kings. The fall 2014 Adult Inline League plays every Tuesday night with the reigning champion Cayman Hot Sauce Flames the current unbeaten frontrunners. The 2014 fall Ball Hockey League is heading into week four, with matches on Thursday night.

At 8 p.m. the 1-1-1 Barracudas play the 1-2 Pirates with the 1-1-1 Devil Rays battling the 2-1 Sharks at 9 p.m.
