A number of roads in the George Town waterfront area will be closed in the coming days to accommodate Pirates Week festivities and Remembrance Day.
On Thursday, the day the Pirates Week festival kicks off, the following intersections will be blocked between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the steel pan competition in downtown George Town:
Harbour Drive/Fort Street
Harbour Drive/Cardinal Avenue
Shedden Road traffic allowed left turns only at the Harbour Drive junction. Local vehicle access will be allowed only to the port.
The following intersections will be blocked to accommodate the 5K run and the fireworks display and street dance between 3 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday:
Harbour Drive/Fort Street
Boiler’s Road/South Church Street
Harbour Drive/Goring Avenue
Cardinal Avenue/Albert Panton Street
On Saturday and early Sunday, the following intersections will be closed for the pirates landing and street dance between 11 a.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday:
Memorial Boulevard/South Church Street
Boiler’s Road/Walker’s Road
Fort Street/North Church Street
Shedden Road/Mary Street
Dr. Roy’s Drive/Edward Street
Cardinal Avenue/Albert Panton Street
Exit of Bayshore Mall to South Church Street
Road closures for the Remembrance Day parade on Harbour Drive will remain in effect until Sunday noon at the following locations:
Harbour Drive/Fort Street
Harbour Drive/Cardinal Avenue
Traffic on Shedden Road will only be allowed left turns at Harbour Drive.
