Devil Rays skate for final props before Christmas break

Round 13 of the 2014 Fall Ball Hockey League is taking place at Kings Sports Centre.

A doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday night. The 3-8 Pirates face the 6-1-3 Barracudas at 8 p.m. before the 6-2-3 Devil Rays challenge the 4-1-5 Sharks at 9 p.m. The Rays have 20 points and sit atop the standings thanks to a competition-best 46 goals. The Barracudas, 19 points, sit second with 19 points thanks to a competition-low 31 goals allowed. The Sharks, 13 points, and Pirates, nine points, round out the rankings.

Thursday’s matches will be the league’s final games for 2014, as the competition takes a break for Christmas. Action resumes in the New Year on Jan. 8, 2015 with the regular season slated to end on Jan. 15.

Little has changed on the statistics side. Brian Lehnerer of the Rays is top scorer with 13 goals, ahead of Evan Ellbogen of the Barracudas (12 goals), Claude Plamondon of the Sharks (eight goals) and Matt Stone of the Sharks and Ryan Pull of the Barracudas (six goals apiece). Leo Kassam of the Rays has a league-best seven assists, ahead of Stone, Plamondon, Dennis Paschier of the Barracudas and Jagger Hope of the Rays (six assists each).
