A man arrested Friday on suspicion of killing David Ruben Ebanks of West Bay has been released on police bail.
“The accused was released [Sunday] to return at a later date,” said Police Superintendent Adrian Seales.
No charges had been filed against the 25-year-old suspect who was arrested in the homicide investigation into the shooting death of Mr. Ebanks, 20, on Jan. 23.
In addition to the homicide allegations, the man was being questioned in connection to a car theft, police said.
Mr. Ebanks was shot outside a Birch Tree Hill Road jerk stand on Jan. 23. His father told the Cayman Compass that another man, believed to be the target in the shooting, was wounded by gunfire as well.
In addition, one bullet from the Jan. 23 incident flew into a nearby home, narrowly missing a woman who was asleep in her bed.
Mr. Ebanks’s shooting death was believed to be a retaliatory act for the Jan. 3 shooting that killed 22-year-old Victor Oliver Yates, who was also of West Bay.
