Owen helps Cubs kill off JJ's

An incredible bowling performance from Oscar Owen propelled Sol Cubs to a massive 9 wicket victory over JJ’S as Cayman Cricket Division 2 continued last weekend.

Owen completely mesmerized JJ’S batsmen, picking up 7 wickets in 3.4 overs at Smith Road Oval.

The only resistance came from veteran Pearson Best, who scored 30 runs. Sol Cubs Darren Cato 24 not out, made small work of the JJ’S score of 39 runs.

Also at the Smith Road Oval, Paramount’s Donald Carter, who was 2014 Best Bowler in Division 2, maintained his form by picking up 5 wickets against Chillies. Paramount made 224 and limited Chillies to 79 runs for an excellent victory.

In Division 1, By Rite is again the form team. Last year’s champions, still led by Troy Taylor, has easily maintained its momentum, defeating Sol Tigers at the Jimmy Powell Oval by 7 wickets.

It was Kervin Ebanks who stole the spotlight in Division 1 for Prison who defeated Police by 5 wickets at the Smith Road Oval on Sunday.

Batting first, Police tallied 166 while Ebanks took 3 wickets. Ebanks lead the way when Prison batted, with a superb 88 runs.

In the Women’s League, Natasha Roberts lead Islanders to the first upset of the season, crushing undefeated three-time champions Panthers by 8 wickets.

Having limited Panthers to 101 for 2 wickets, Roberts smashed her way to 33 not out and Sheila Rankine 13 not out joined her to carry their team to victory with 8 balls remaining.
