Summer activities for Cayman's pre-teens

Keeping your children entertained during the summer months can be a challenge, especially if parents work or do not have family members to help out during the day.  

Cayman has many camps for young children to enjoy, covering a wide range of hobbies and interests. Here is a selection: 

Equestrian Camp  

Children can learn how to care for a pony and take part in daily riding, beach adventures, games and crafts at the Equestrian Center, off Linford Pierson Highway. Internationally qualified riding instructors join camp counselors to create a great experience for children. 

Dates: Weekdays June 29 to Aug. 28 

Cowboy Town Stables  

Two one-week camps that teach attendees to ride and care for horses. Horse safety, anatomy, behavior and nutrition are also covered, and there are arts and crafts and games. The camp is for children of all abilities, including special needs.  

Football Camp  

Excel Sports Management Ltd. Summer Development Football Camp 

This camp focuses on the technical skills of football, including tactical awareness, positional play and general game awareness. The cost includes a light lunch. 

Basketball Camp  

Camana Bay Basketball Camp  

Camana Bay’s basketball camp has been held for seven years. The camp includes training from a special NBA guest. 

Golf Camp  

North Sound Golf Club and the Cayman Islands Golf Association Junior Summer Camp 

Learn the fundamentals of golf and put your newfound skills to use in a competition on the final day of camp, with the chance to win prizes. 

Tennis Camps  

Cayman Tennis Academy 

Two hours of tennis followed by other activities, including yoga, soccer, volleyball, beach activities and lunch. 

CI Tennis Club Junior Summer Tennis Camp 

The Cayman Islands Tennis Club camp teaches children the skills needed to improve their game.

The Courts by Nick Bollettieri Tennis Center  

Learn tennis and enjoy other activities such as culinary classes, pool time and the Starfish Cay waterpark, as well as a daily dinner. 

Water-based Camps  

Cayman Islands Sailing Club Sailing Camp  

Learn how to sail, or improve your skills. 

Red Sail Aqua Rangers  

Get an introduction to the marine environment, and snorkel, sail and stand up paddle board among other activities. Spaces limited to 10 children per week. 

Junior Lifeguard Government Summer Camp  

Week-long camp at the Lions Pool, with a choice of four dates. Learn basic lifesaving and swim style skills. Beach Fridays include beach visits and games. Children must be able to swim 50m without stopping in order to attend. 

Music Camp  

Cayman Music School 

Musical activities, games, field trips and karaoke will entertain young musicians. 

Culinary Camp  

Budding Chef Summer Culinary Camp at Bon Vivant.  

Themed weeks of culinary training including Mexican, pies, Cayman cuisine and sweet treats. 

Multi-subject Camps 

Starfish Village Summer Camp, Camana Bay  

Themed weeks of arts and crafts, field trips, games, cooking, dance. 

  • Dates: Weekdays June 29-Aug. 21 
  • Times: Full day 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., half day 8 a.m. to noon 
  • Ages: 3-6, 7-9, 10-12

Cayman Kids Club by Chatterbox 

Unlimited access to more than 30 creative arts classes, music, drama, toddler music, photography, etc. 

Fitness Connection’s Summer Camp  

Eight weeks of camp, with weekly themes including Fiesta! Schools out for summer, Eco Adventure and Pirates Week Part 1. The camp offers games, crafts and activities. 

Camana Bay Multi-Sport Camp  

Different sports options each week help kids improve
existing skills or try new activities. 

Kings Sports Centre 

An extensive variety of activities, including squash, arts and crafts, rock climbing, bowling and puppetry are available to kids in three age groups. The camp aims to encourage self-confidence, creativity and leadership.

Educational Camps 

S.E.A. (Science Environment Animals Programme) – Chatterbox Speech & Language Therapy  

Children learn about nature. Previous years camps have included hermit crab racing, exploring rock pools and snorkeling. 

Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman 

Children learn about sustainable living through games, arts and crafts, field trips, snorkeling and experiments. 


Last year’s tennis camp at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, was a smash hit.
