'Paws for Wine' fundraiser set for September

Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts is hosting their fifth annual fundraiser, “Paws for Wine” at Ristorante Pappagallo on Sept. 26. The event has grown to become a firm favorite with Cayman’s animal lovers thanks to its relaxed, informal atmosphere.

Blackbeard’s will showcase a variety of wines for guests to sample, while the chefs from Pappagallo will offer a selection of food stations and canapés. The event will also include silent and live auctions, as well as music by local band Bona Fide.

Thanks to corporate sponsorship, all ticket proceeds will go to CARE’s community spay and neuter program, as well as CARE’s soon-to-be-launched kids education program and pet registration initiative to help combat Cayman’s ever-increasing pet overpopulation.

“Last year was a record year for us and we raised just under $20,000 with a record 150 in attendance,” said Lesley Agostinelli. “We are hoping to try and match that for this year.”

Each month CARE spends around $5,000 to cover its free spay and neuter program.

“CARE has been working tirelessly over the past three years actively promoting and providing free spay and neuter services throughout all of the communities here in Grand Cayman,” Agostinelli said. “We are so very proud to so far have been able to sponsor over 2,000 surgeries.”

Tickets, $75, are available from Ristorante Pappagallo, Cayman Animal Hospital, Island Veterinary Services, Bliss Living Yoga and Must Love Dog’s Camana Bay retail location. The event starts at 7 p.m.

CARE’s upcoming fundraiser, Paws for Wine, includes live and silent auctions.
