Deadline extended for labor and pensions bills feedback

New deadline is Sept. 30

The deadline has been extended by one month for the public to provide feedback on the proposed Labour Relations Bill and the National Pensions (Amendment Bill, 2015).

The new deadline is Sept. 30. The original deadline for public feedback was Aug. 31. According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, Employment and Gender Affairs, the government decided to extend the deadline after receiving requests on Monday to do so.

The public consultation period on the bills began at the end of June and included a series of public meetings in each district. The public was also able to submit written feedback throughout this period.

  1. If half of the things that I am told are happening in the Cayman Islands are true then there is a need for much stronger labour and pensions bills. These changes should include a minimum mandatory prison sentence for all business owners/managers that knowingly take employees pension contributions from their wages but do not subsequently put those funds into a pension plan for the benefit of said employees.
