Police seek man whose ID was found in drug canoe

Police issued a photograph Thursday of a man whose identification was found inside a canoe abandoned by drug smugglers in North Side on Sunday.

“Personal identification was recovered in the canoe which appears to belong to a male by the name of Jade Brown, who is approximately 42 years old,” police said in a statement.

Detectives from the Drugs and Serious Crime Task Force were continuing their search for four men who police say entered Cayman waters illegally on a fast canoe. Police gave chase and the men on board the canoe fled. The canoe was later found abandoned.

Officers found about 35 packets of ganja in the water after the suspects tossed them overboard during the police pursuit.

Police are advising members of the public who see the man in the photograph to exercise caution and notify the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
