Brilliant fireworks will light the night sky on New Year’s Eve as Cayman welcomes 2016.
Many bars, restaurants and hotels will feature fireworks displays in addition to New Year’s Eve parties.
Among the locations where fireworks can be seen as the clock strikes midnight, and often before, are: Camana Bay, Kaibo’s Barefoot Beach BBQ and Beach Surf Party, Grand Old House, Cayman Cabana, The Wharf, Royal Palms, The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, Calico Jack’s and the Marriott resort.
In a long-held New Year’s Eve tradition, many people are also expected to be on Cayman’s beaches, where they will no doubt be shooting off their own fireworks to see the new year in with a bang.
Others take to the sea to get a better view of the pyrotechnics, for example, on board Red Sail’s catamaran off Seven Mile Beach.
Party-goers will have some extra time to indulge in champagne and other beverages of choice as the opening hours at licensed premises will be extended for one hour on New Year’s Eve.
Liquor Licensing Board Chairman Mitchell Welds said, “The extra hour can only be added to the closing time that is now permitted for each business.
“Liquor sales and the playing of music must cease during the last ten minutes of permitted opening hours for retail, hotel, restaurant, and beer/wine categories of licenses,” Mr. Welds said.
