Murder trial delayed until April

The trial of Justin D’Angelo Ramoon and Osbourne Wilfred Douglas, charged with murdering Jason Charles Powery, has been re-listed for Monday, April 18.

They are charged with the murder of 20-year-old West Bay resident Mr. Powery on the night of Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in George Town.

The defendants pleaded not guilty last year and appeared in Grand Court for their trial on Monday. However, a point of law was raised during jury selection and the matter was adjourned.

On Wednesday, Justice Charles Quin met with the attorneys involved, who agreed to begin the trial on April 18, based on the availability of overseas counsel. Lead counsel Sean Larkin is instructed by attorney Alice Carver on behalf of Ramoon.

Lead counsel Brendan Kelly is instructed by attorney Laurence Aiolfi on behalf of Douglas.
The case for the prosecution is being conducted by Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryll Richards, assisted by Crown counsel Candia James.
