CUC 800M Sea Swim

Oct. 15: CUC and the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association host the traditional 800m swim, open to all, and a 400m swim for the 12 and unders, which is not a timed event. (These events were rescheduled due to inclement weather on Oct. 8.) Start time is 4 p.m. for the 800m; 4:45 for the 400m. Registration is 3-3:45 p.m. The fee for the 800m is $15 adults and $10 children for CIASA members, and $20 adults and $15 children for non-CIASA members. The 400m swim is $10. There will be trophies for the top three finishers in each age group. The children in the 400m race will receive participation ribbons, and there will also be T-shirts and refreshments.

Culture at the Cinema: “Frankenstein”

Oct. 15: Culture at the Cinema brings internationally renowned stage performances to Cayman with monthly theater and ballet productions filmed live at venues around the world and presented on the big screen. The lineup continues with National Theatre Live’s “Frankenstein,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. CIFA Beginners Referee Course

Oct. 16: The Cayman Islands Football Association’s Referees Department will conduct a free Referee Beginner Course from Oct. 16-23 at the George Town Primary School. The course, which starts at 3 p.m., offers training to those who want to become certified as a referee or an assistant referee and officiate in local football leagues and advance as a FIFA referee.
