People Who Time Forgot: Stanford Rankine

It’s that time a year; kitchen dances have always played a big part in local Christmas tradition.

In this image Stanford Rankine has a huge smile on his face as he’s keeping time on the drums along with Radley Gourzong and the Happy Boys from East End.

The Happy Boys were always a huge hit at the Rotary Senior Citizens Christmas party. Today Samuel Rose keeps the musical tradition alive with his Swanky Kitchen Band, as does the Brac Kitchen Band on Cayman Brac.

Mr. Rose’s album, “A Swanky Christmas” captures the sound of the old-time Cayman Christmas music Mr. Rankine had such a great time playing.

Mr. Rankine passed away around 2003.
