Police warn of tool thefts

Police sent an alert to the media this week warning of tool thefts around Grand Cayman.

Officers note they received two theft reports last weekend.

Someone stole tools from five locked containers in Industrial Park, and in another incident on Hirst Road in Bodden Town, police said. Both thefts were discovered Sunday.

According to police, “The tools stolen range from power saws, a drill, tile cutters, a jack hammer and other items, and are primarily of the [brands] Bosch and Makita. The value of the stolen tools from last weekend is estimated to be a few thousand dollars.”

Police cautioned against buying used tools and asked that people call police about anyone selling “sizable quantities of used tools.”

  1. No one is looking any second hand tools to buy on island I don’t think, What needed to be done is check customs department on all the barrels and nailed up crates leaving the island for Christmas and then find the missing tools.
