A crowd of people was forced out of the Camana Bay Cinema on Thursday night, when a minor fire in the concessions area resulted in an evacuation of the theater. Three fire engines responded to the scene, and no one appeared to be hurt in the incident.
The fire took place around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night. The evacuated moviegoers began congregating in the square in front of the theater. Police and fire personnel showed up and cordoned off the front door of the theater while they investigated.
Dart released the following statement about the incident on Thursday night:
“Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, there was a minor fire in the concessions production area of the Camana Bay Theater. Emergency precautions were implemented and patrons were immediately evacuated in a safe manner. No persons were injured during the incident and emergency serviced arrived on scene promptly. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished; investigation into the cause is currently underway. Dart Real Estate commends staff for their swift action and the emergency services for their quick response.”
