The Department of Environment said it will be closing off its green iguana culling collections for the year from Monday, 23 Dec.
DoE officials told the Cayman Compass Wednesday that the temporary halt will run through 1 Jan.
The aim of the closure is to give DoE employees a break for the holidays.
The DoE will resume iguana collection from cullers on 2 Jan., according to a DoE spokesperson.
So far, 1.1 million green iguanas have been culled under the DoE culling programme.
