The Cayman Islands Fire Service, together with Department of Environmental Health personnel, are continuing to monitor the Little Cayman landfill after battling three fires there Wednesday night.
The CIFS said its Little Cayman crew and the DEH will keep watch throughout the weekend.
Fire fighters, working alongside the Department of Environmental Health (DEH) and Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, responded to the fire at the landfill at 10:40pm Wednesday, CIFS said in a brief statement Friday.
The crews found three fires at the scene in separate areas, which were about 30-50 feet in length and 30 feet in width.
All three agencies attended to the fires.
Meanwhile, CIFS crews are still onsite at the George Town Landfill, and will continue with damping operations into next week after fires were again detected.
The Fire Service will decide the next steps following an assessment next week, the statement said.
