Four-year-old green sea turtles named Thatch and Schooner were released at Governors Beach on Thursday to mark World Sea Turtle Day.
Hosted by the Cayman Turtle Centre, the release of the endangered species aims to ensure the preservation and development of the sea turtle population around Cayman and the region.
Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan was also on hand to witness the release.
“We continue here in the Cayman Islands, through the Turtle Centre to make sure the world is populated with this endangered species,” said Bryan.
