As Cayman gets set to relax key travel restrictions, interim Chief Medical Officer Dr. Autilia Newton says with local COVID cases trending downward, the islands are in a good position to lift pre-arrival testing.
Newton, speaking on the Cayman Compass Facebook show The Resh Hour Wednesday evening, said the lifting of the restrictions, which commences Thursday, 30 June, was based on scientific advice as the cases are continuing to drop.
Hospitalisations, she added, are very low which is a positive sign for Cayman and the scrapping of restrictions that have been limiting visitors and mandating mask wearing.
“We are not where we were in mid-March, there is a trend going slightly down,” she said.
