Deported murder suspect killed in Jamaica

A murder suspect who was extradited from the Cayman Islands in July and escaped police custody in Kingston, Jamaica, last week was shot and killed by police on Saturday.

Rudolph ‘Boxa’ Shaw, 30, was wanted for multiple murders in Jamaica when he was apprehended in Cayman on 8 July after a pursuit by armed police during which he rammed a police car.

Shaw was subsequently deported and handed over by Customs and Border Control to the Jamaican police.

Jamaican authorities described Shaw as a dangerous, “vicious criminal” and leading member of the Wildlife gang. He was a suspect in at least three murders.

After two initial court appearances in Jamaica, he was held in a high security lock-up but managed to escape custody after cutting his way through a vent, a Jamaican police spokesperson told the Cayman Compass last week.
