Cayman’s Customs and Border Control is expected to increase its repatriation efforts as acting CBC Director Bruce Smith stated that “additional migrant repatriation flights are being coordinated for the very near future”.
This comes as government has repatriated some 51 Cubans to date on chartered flights since January, the latest of which took place on Tuesday morning.

Smith, through a statement, said prompt repatriation flights are part of the CBC and the government approach to “managing and expediting matters involving irregular migration”.
Government, on Tuesday, repatriated 12 men and three women to Cuba.
They departed on chartered Cayman Airways 737-8 from Grand Cayman at 8:39am and arrived in Cuba at 9:23am.
At present, there are 263 Cubans on island under CBC care. There are no Cubans on Cayman Brac.
The acting CBC director thanked those involved in Tuesday flight.
“Recognizing that operations of this nature involves a significant amount of planning and resources, I wish to thank the officers of His Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service (HMCIPS) and Workforce Opportunities & Residency Cayman (WORC) for their excellent collaboration which contributed to the safety and overall efficiency of the operation,” he said.
