Police have arrested a further two men in relation to an armed robbery that took place at a jewellery store on the George Town waterfront Tuesday morning.

The two men, ages 36 and 29, both of George Town, were arrested yesterday, 28 March, on suspicion of robbery, possession of a firearm and drug related-offences, and remain in custody. Earlier, a 27-year-old man, of George Town, was also arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The robbery occurred shortly after 9:50am, when three masked men, one armed with a firearm, held up the store on Seafarers Way, during which they smashed display cases and stole several pieces of jewellery.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured in the hold-up.

Afterwards, the three men fled in a white Honda CR-V, which police later found parked, unoccupied, in Grescott Lane in George Town.

A quantity of jewellery, suspected to have been taken during the robbery, has been recovered, police said.

This is at least the third armed robbery reported in George Town this month.

On 17 March, two men, one brandishing a gun, robbed a business premises on Eastern Avenue. A 29-year-old man was arrested later that day on suspicion of being involved in that robbery.

Earlier in the month, around 8:30pm on 3 March, a woman was robbed and a shot fired when two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered a tent where the victim and friends were gathered outside her home in the vicinity of Brushy Avenue. No one was injured in that robbery.
