Seven people adrift on a raft were rescued 20 nautical miles off Grand Cayman Tuesday night by the Cayman Islands Coast Guard.
In a post to its social media platforms, the Coast Guard noted that they were alerted of the raft in distress shortly after 9:20pm on 14 Nov.
“The CICG deployed one of its patrol vessels, who successfully located the raft, and retrieved all seven individuals,” wrote the Coast Guard, adding that the people were turned over to Customs and Border Control officers.
It was not clear how long those on the raft were adrift or if they were Cubans en route to Cayman. No details were provided on the health of the individuals.
