The Visual Arts Society will be including a toy drive to collect gifts for children in need at its 13th annual Christmas Art and Craft Sale in Camana Bay this weekend.
The event will be held on Saturday, 2 Dec., from 10am to 5pm at the Paseo.
This year, the non-profit organisation
has partnered with National Children’s Voluntary Organsition to create a toy drive accepting unwrapped toys and gifts to donate children, aged between 12 months and 17 years, in nursery/pre-school and in foster homes, who are being assisted by the NCVO.
The Visual Arts Society will be set up in a tent, just past the Observatory Tower, with a toy box ready to accept gifts, organisers said in a press release.
“Artists of the society will have tables set up with beautiful displays of their one-of-a-kind gifts, keepsakes, souvenirs in a festive atmosphere,” the society said in the release. “You can expect to find silk painted scarves, Christmas decorations, large selection of different hand-crafted unique jewellery, ceramics, acrylics, scented candles, hand-made bags, rare
underwater photography, framed prints, custom art cards and so much more.”
A fundraiser raffle will also be held, with hand-crafted prizes donated by local artists who are members of the Visual Arts Society. Funds raised go to the society, which offers support, exhibiting and art vendor opportunities, as well as studio time and ceramic and art classes within the art community.
Visual Arts Society chairperson Ivan Burges said the Visual Arts Society provides opportunities for artists of all levels to develop in the art community.
He added, “On behalf of the board of directors, they are sincerely grateful for the annual sponsorship in kind from Camana Bay and we look forward to contributing to the island Christmas spirit.”
The Visual Arts Society will also have a donation toy box at its Christmas Social at Saltwater Grill in Galleria Plaza, West Bay Road, on Thursday, 7 Dec., at 6pm.
That event has a Santa workshop character dress-up theme for those interested in competing for best dress prizes. Tickets are $25 per person, which includes appetisers,
cash bar with drinks specials and DJ music.
