Police have arrested two men on suspicion of armed robbery after a hold-up at a West Bay convenience store on Thursday night, 8 Feb.
According to an RCIPS statement, police were alerted to the robbery at the shop on Reverend Blackman Road shortly after 7:30pm.
It was reported that two men entered the store wearing masks and hoodies, with one carrying a firearm.
The gunman approached the store manager and demanded cash from the register and cigarettes. The other man demanded money from the cashier at a money transfer station at the rear of the store.
After stealing the items, both men left the shop, police said.
Shortly after, officers received information from the 911 communication centre that two men had been spotted at a location in the vicinity of Powery Road, West Bay, “acting suspiciously”.
With the assistance of the police helicopter, officers located and apprehended the two men. They also recovered a quantity of cash and a vehicle believed to be the getaway car in the robbery.
The men, a 21-year-old of George Town, and a 26-year-old of North Side, were arrested and transported to the Detention Centre.
Police said investigations into the matter continue.
