Police arrested Patrick Campbell, 18, Friday on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, the RCIPS said in a news release on 12 April.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service issued an initial press release on 8 April, urging the public to report any sightings of the man.
Police did not say in the initial press release where or when the alleged assault occurred.
The police service said in the updated press release that Campbell was in custody pending further investigations.
