The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has officially charged an 18-year-old North Side man, who was arrested on 12 April, with assault with grievous bodily harm.

In the press release, issued 15 April, police said the man was slated to appear in court Monday in relation to the incident that took place on 16 March on Market Street in Camana Bay, when a man was reportedly assaulted with a bladed weapon by someone he knew.

According to the initial press release, officers were dispatched at about 7:40pm and rendered first aid to the injured man before he was transported to the hospital with “serious by non-life-threatening injuries” and later released.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene before police arrived, but officers recovered a weapon they believed was used in the assault.
