A hospital worker struck by a vehicle while walking to work at Health City Friday evening was pronounced dead Saturday, police have confirmed.
The driver of the vehicle, involved in the collision, which happened on Sea View Road around 7:20pm Friday, has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The victim, who the Compass is not naming at this stage, was taken to the George Town Hospital by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries overnight.
A spokesperson for the East End hospital confirmed that a staff member was walking near the Health City campus when he was hit by the vehicle.
“Health City is currently in the process of contacting family members to inform them and offer support during this difficult time,” the spokesperson said.
Police said the driver of the Suzuki Swift, which had struck the man, attended the Bodden Town Police Station after the incident. He was arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
